Faux Flyby

As I’ve mentioned, the first flyby of Pluto is happening on Tuesday morning, July 14th. Starting tomorrow it will probably be about all I talk about here for a week or so.

I’m fascinated by the decreasingly fuzzy and increasingly detailed photos coming back from New Horizons. I can’t wait to see what we see over the next three days and then in the months and months it will take for all of the pictures to be sent back to us from more than three billion miles away.

These pictures aren’t from New Horizon (or any other space probe) but rather from me playing around with my iPhone camera while on a long, tedious phone call today. When I was done, they reminded me of the sequences of pictures being returned from New Horizon.

I’m betting that the surfaces of Pluto and Charon will be more exciting than an old pair of jeans.
