The Little Pleasures

Sure, winning the $100,000,000 lottery would be nice, and I won’t say “no!” if that “fate” is headed my way. But you can’t depend on it or count on it as a condition of your happiness.

Some days, a pair of really nice, “golden” grilled cheese sandwiches are enough to brighten your day.

And I saw the Cooper’s hawk again, and a handful of the quail (not at the same time, obviously), and I figured out (I think) what part I need to fix my telescope after the movers messed it up a year ago.

I got a bunch of things done today (there is no cavalry coming, if you want to get saved you only have yourself to count on) and now I’m sitting here listening to music and the train whistles as the freighters climb the Cajon Pass a mile or so away.

Things could be worse. And they probably will be one of these days real soon now. But not today.

What do we say to the God of Death?
