Today I flew from the Los Angeles area to Midland-Odessa, Texas for the Annual CAF Staff Meeting which starts tomorrow.
This was “Plan A” – I was going to fly out in the private plane of our Wing Leader. Something came up at the last minute, so…
This was “Plan C.” (“Plan B” was to drive out, but common sense reared its ugly head.)
Hoover Dam and that freakishly huge bridge over the gorge there where the Colorado River is dammed.
Behnd the dam is Lake Mead, with a very fractal-ly edge. Slartybardfast would have been proud.
I have to track down what airport this is, right next to a really neat canyon.
The desert has a zillion different colors and shades and mesas and buttes and escarpments.
Rivers give water and water means life out here.
Some of the salt beds stand out quite a bit, as in, “See it from space with the naked eye” standing out.
Near midland, there are mile upon mile upon mile upon mile upon mile of Grade A flatness with oil wells about every hundred yards as far as the eye can see.
Told you I would be taking a lot of pictures!
